Played a key part in the design of the first legislation in the country regulating social media's impact on minors — then advised policymakers in other states pursuing similar laws.
Statewide phone-free schools
Led implementation of the Governor's cellphones-in-schools initiative, working with legislators, schools, and advocates to establish a bell-to-bell phone-free default across Utah while respecting local control.
Digital safety in the classroom
Initiated legislation creating a digital safety course for middle schoolers and advocated the integration of AI literacy, social media algorithms, and online safety into the K–12 computer science curriculum.
App Store Accountability Act
Advised on the first law of its kind in America, along with AI chatbot regulation and Utah's targeted advertising tax.
Reaching a million parents
Directed the Governor's statewide ad campaign on the harms of social media and the CHAT campaign promoting family connection — together reaching more than 1 million Utahns.
Founding the Utah Office of Families
Translated the Governor's vision into state statute, drafted the enabling legislation, and built the office from the ground up.
